Body Health Awareness for Pubertal Girls
Women Empowerment Organization (WEO) in partnership with the Dutch organization; Mama Cash has started a one-year span project entitled Body Health Awareness for Pubertal Girls. The project started with a three-day course for the project personnel which was held on Tuesday, Jan 15, and continued up to Thursday, Jan17, 2008. It was delivered by a specialist to enlighten the project personnel about their duties and the objectives that the project is trying to achieve.
After that a mobile team was constituted and we coordinated with the ministry of education for getting permission and facilitating the implementations of the sessions. So far, we have been able to hold the 20 sessions in 20 female secondary and intermediate schools targeting 904 student girls.
The core of these sessions is going through the basic physiological and psychological changes during puberty with simple anatomical background on female reproductive system.
The sessions are aiming at:

Rectify the wrong information on health during puberty.

Raise health and hygiene awareness among pubertal girls.
Decrease the stress on these girls due to the effect of the normal physiological changes happened during puberty period.
