WEO introduction:


Women empowerment organization is a non-governmental, voluntary and independent organization, established in June 2004 and since that time WEO is accomplishing projects in different working sectors in Iraq

WEO Mission:
- Toward women empowerment
- Toward a civil society

WEO chief objectives
-Solidifying and activating roles of women in the society by building and    
developing their capabilities and potentials
-Educating rural and suburban women
-Consolidating roles of women in decision-making process.
- Encouraging women participant in the development process, by strengthening
their roles at the social, cultural political level and economic terms.
-Support women and youth to find work opportunities.
-Raising awareness among people, particularly at the crassroots level, to get them
acquainted with the rights and freedom they deserve to enjoy within the    
framework of their country.
-Enhancing the awareness of the global human rights concept in the community.

-Raising the electoral awareness for the women and youth in Erbil city
-Anti-corruption awareness and advocacy project
-Seminar on (gender and women participation percentage in Kurdistan regional
government).
-Dialogue session on (item number 41 in the Iraqi constitution with comparison to
personal status law of 1959 ).
-holding a conference on (women participation in the new Iraqi constitution)
-Holding a conference about (the equality in constitution, will guarantee the
democracy)
-Conduction of dialog session about (gender equality, constitutional awareness)
-Conduction of dialog session about (women participation in the upcoming Iraqi
general election)

-Training on women participation in drafting the new Iraqi constitution.
-holding a conference about the constitutional culture of women in Erbi, Baghdad,

and kirkuk.
- distributing uniform dress for the girls pupils of primary and secondary schools in
Erbil governorate.
-evaluating survey on the abilities of the women NGOs and the required raw
materials for their work
-Training on “women looking for funds and donors and how to write proposal in a
well- arranged way” for women NGOs in Erbil.
-holding a conference about “women empowerment and strengthening towards
growth and decision making” in Baghdad

-Body health awareness for middle aged women regarding menopause, breast
Cancer and bone diseases
- Hygiene and body health awareness for pubertal girls (first and second phases)
5-    Small business development center :
Establishing a small business development center (SBDC) in Erbil. WEO was chosen to operate the regional small business development center (SBDCs) and has been supported by three US agencies for international Development-sponsored programs: Izdihar, Tijara, and the Inma agribusiness program. WEO has earned a unique status in the community for fostering a business-learning environment and in serving as a proactive partner in providing valuable business training services to the community especially its undeserved groups.

business) since Dec 2006, WEO became one of the five SBDCs in Iraq
