Woman Empowerment Organization has been finalized many projects and trainings; it has taken steps for starting other projects to be accomplished in the next few months. 1-    Human rights, civil society and Women’s affairs:
WEO had held a Conference for honoring successful women on Global Women’s Day, Mar/8th/2009
Women Empowerment Organization  held a conference for honoring women at the event of women global day in 8th/Mar/2009, Supported by Relief International and the Ministry of Human Rights, attended by over than 85 participant from, parliament and government members, international and  local NGOs, Media, and women in business.

b-Supporting by National Democratic Institute, Strengthening leadership and decision making capabilities of women employees in the governmental departments and NGOs in Erbil city was held, started in Sep/2008, completed in Jan/2009.

The project was designed to open workshops for a number above 400 of women holding leading positions in the governmental departments and institutions. The leadership skills required for women had been provided and these women would be empowered to manage their affairs and become potential candidates for holding higher political and governmental positions. The participant sections were as here under listed:

·         Directorates of construction, Education, Finance, and health.
·         Higher education
·         Ministry of agriculture
·         Ministry of electricity
·         Ministry of culture
·         Ministry of human rights
·         Ministry of industry
·         Ministry of justice
·         Ministry of municipality
·         Ministry of tourism
c-     Capacity-building courses for (alsafa center ) for Women Legal assistant  in the  Anbar province for a period of 1-3 May 2009

WEO has held a capacity building courses for Al Safa center in Erbil for 19 Members of the Center, legal Clinic Widows Outreach, dealing with the Widows cases, the topics were discussed on the three day courses as following:
·         Administration of courses.
·         About the civil society and human rights.
·         The possibility of civil society institutions.
·         The functioning of organizations.
·         Legal rights for women.
·         A historical overview of the reality of Iraqi women.
Continues capacity building and workshops
d- Since one of the objective goals of WEO is Enhancing the awareness of the global human rights and women rights concept in the community. Capacity building courses for religious Imams supported by DIAKONIA is continues in Erbil Governorate started from May/15/2009, now including sub-districts, holding awareness workshops on (human rights and women rights in the light of law, legislations, and Global conversions and treaties) beside, learning using internet for Participant Imams, as using computer and internet become one of the necessity of life.

          e- WEO’s goal is to be in a Right Place in a Right Time.
Women and youth participation in election process the project supported by UNPOS. WEO can be distinguished that its always trying to reach everywhere, expanding its activities over by going to villages and sub district.
Electoral educational project in Erbil sub districts, holding conferences for 11 districts (Rawanduz, Choman and its sub-districts, Barzan and its sub-districts, and Kawrgosik )with participation of 660 citizens, including men and women the project goal is to educate citizens about how a pure election can be made and what are the rights and duties of people and candidates.
Makhmur Educational Assessment and registration, supported by Mercy Corps, the project started in Jun/2009, ended in July/2009, aiming returning back girls under 18 years old to School, the project has been implemented through 3 stages: 1st survey, 2nd TOT, 3rd post survey. 944 dropped out/not attending School girls were chosen, 450 were candidate from the total from different stages of primary School. 15 teachers participated in TOT. Solution has been made by opening a School coordination of DIRECTORATE OF EDUCATION IN MAKHMUER.
3- Small business development training SBDC
a-     In Cooperation with Inma Project (USAID), WEO through its SBDC in Erbil has provided (agribusiness courses) in 6 months for 5 provinces; Erbil, Tameem, Ninewa, Dohuk and Sulimania.

From April 2009 till June 2009, WEO has trained 214 participants through 3 provinces:
Erbil including: ( Ainkawa, Bastora, Shamamik & Degla) , Ninewa: ( Talafer , Bashiqa , Hamdaniya & Brtilla ), Kirkuk: ( Dakok & Yayji ), and Duhk: (Bardarash) the courses are still continues.
There were more than 60 women from Erbil Province who participated in these training so the total of participated women in the all provinces reached 180.
Moreover, in honor of active participation of the farmer women in the training course, WEO has awarded them set of utensils (as a gift from USAID) for encouraging them starting their business and marketing their productions,
How to start up and/improve small business and How to improve agribusiness projects trainings started from March/2009 to the present time for both genders (male &female), the trainings continues in Erbil, Mosul, and Kirkuk governorates.
The Aims behind these courses is improving this agriculture sector and connecting them with MFI.

The courses SBDC topics including:-

1st Day: How to prepare a Bankable Business plan, including; starting new business, business planning, long-term and short-term Goals, Registration Business.
2nd Day: How to Market your Business, including; Sales, Customer care, Promotion, Advertising.
3rd Day: Hot to Manage your Business Cash Flow, including; Finance, Accounting and Budget
Issue, Furthermore, how to Use your Business plan in a loan Application Package, how to Approach a Microfinance Institution or a Bank and how to complete a loan Application.
b- Market Assessment Survey
WEO and KCED supported by Tijara/USAID carrys out a  series of survys and Market Assesment(MAs)in Erbil and Kurkuk to ascertain the existing state of the local economy and assess the approparaite.
Reconizing the importance of conducting market assestments for bussniees development service programes and using the resultes to design effective interventions, SBDC will expand their product deleivery to include not only trianing , but also consulting services and other programs and business related services to address the constraints and ooportunites identified in the business communication as a result to the conducted market assesment.
