Mutual Dialogue between Imams and women groups over women issues in KRG.
The Women Empowerment organization implemented a project for 8 months under the project name of (Mutual Dialogue between Imams and women groups over women issues in KRG). The project is to have a continuing coordination and cooperation between Religious leaders and women activists. This project implemented during 1/10/2011 - 31/5/2012 and it contained 3 seminars, 12 radio programs and 12 TV programs. This project was supported by Religious leaders, Ministry of Religious affairs, Overall objective of the project is to reduce violence against women through direct dialogue and debate between imams and women activists group, and the target group of the project is the religious leaders those who are responsible for delivering speeches and sermons in religious occasions and give Friday speeches, as they can exert a great influence of people in Iraq. The women group is women from NGOs that are fighting for the fulfillments of women rights in Kurdistan and they are actively engaged in the activities which aim at ending all kinds of discrimination norms and customs which downgrade women in Kurdish society. This project is funded by (NPA). The conclusion of this project was forming a comity for discussing the proposals and preparing a draft final report and submitting it to the Kurdistan Parliament
